Systematic Investigation of six carpet images using different methods
[1]
Colour palettes
[2]
Experimenting with the scanner (glitch effect)
[3]
Images one over the other [overlay effect]
[4]
Seeing deeply using the shapes and colours of the carpets
Analysis
The above carpet design reminds a lot of an abstract collage that consists of various papers with textures, patterns, shapes, and typography. The patterns in combination with the main colours of the carpet which are the black, blue, red and yellow, creates a feeling that this is a pop-art painting created by Andy Warhol or Roy Lichtenstein. The mood of this carpet is also connected with the place where it is; Las Vegas, USA. Las Vegas is known for its social life as well as its night lights.
–
Analysis
This black and white carpet, with few notes of green colours creates a harmonious and relaxing atmosphere while these curved lines remind of sea waves.
–
Analysis
Both the pattern and the colours of this carpet, reflect the historical, architectural and social life of the country which comes from; Japan. The rounded shapes and lines, the flowers and leaves in combination with the colour palette of the carpet help you identify how Japan looks like.
–
Analysis
The above carpet design could easily be described as strict and simple. Consisting only of one orange rectangle shape, the special part of the carpet is the use of various gray textures which to develop a feeling of calmness and security.
–
Analysis
This strict and geometrical design creates a 3D illusion, at the same time when the earthy colour palette helps the carpet stand out like a building in an empty street.
–
Analysis
The above image could easily be part of a graphic design poster. Also, this carpet design in combination with the colours, creates an endless pattern like the big busy roads in Washington, USA, where the photo was taken.
